Nelson Mandela. A tribute.

Blogger Barry: This great World icon was a part of my life.

Back in 1995, I was privileged to organise a 2-day conference on
disability issues. As then Chairman of “Computing for Disabled
Persons”, I am proud to say this conference was one of the first in
SA and well ahead of its time, with live International video
conference calls being beamed to the delegates in Cape Town (Thanks
to Telkom)

As President Mandela had been recently elected to lead our new
South Africa, I tried to get him to speak at our special
conference. Sadly this was declined and to this day, I have his
letter – complete with his signature and Presidential gold stamp,
thanking me, he was just too busy. It pleases me hugely that I
have this memento of this great Statesman, World leader and person.

“We must use time wisely, and forever realize that the time is
always ripe to do right.” -Nelson Mandela-

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many
more hills to climb.” -Nelson Mandela-

“There is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a
life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” -Nelson
Mandela-

Blogger Barry: After 27 years of imprisonment for his beliefs and
standing up against the wrongs to the people, Madiba emerged to
announce to SA and the World all is forgiven! and we must now move
forward and build a new country.

“Everyone has a purpose in life… a unique gift or special talent
to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with
service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our
own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” Deepak Chopra

“Emotional Bonding.
Leaders bring out the best in others, but successful visionaries go
even further: they form lasting emotional bonds. They are the kinds
of leaders we hold in our hearts. When people are emotionally
bonded to you, they want to have contact with you. They want to be
of service and share in your vision. Deep motivation then develops.
True, lasting loyalties are formed.
To create such bonds, you must be willing to build real
relationships. Share yourself. Take a personal interest in others,
and notice their strengths. At the most basic level, you must
display healthy emotional energy yourself. Avoid the three toxic
As: authoritarianism, anger, and aloofness.
In every situation, make it a habit to ask yourself the key
questions of emotional intelligence: How do I feel? How do they
feel? What are the hidden stumbling blocks between us? A leader who
can answer these questions will be in a position to create lasting
emotional bonds.” Deepak Chopra: The Soul of Leadership

Blogger Barry: Thanks for your time. Hope you enjoyed. Please
