How to Protect your Eyes – Your windows to the world.

Hi to my Blog Followers.

I received this info from the SANCB (The South African National
Council for the Blind which I think is crucially important to most
of us.

Date: 18 September 2014

Have you ever wondered how a blind person experiences the world? Or
what the World looks like to a person with Glaucoma, Cataracts or
Retinitis Pigmentosa?

What worries me is that unless you have your eyes tested regularly,
you may not even know if your own sight is at risk from one of
these diseases.

And with Eye Care Awareness Month (ECAM) just around the corner,
from 23 September to 20 October 2014, theres no better time to
start protecting your windows to the world!

So why not make a resolution right now to test your eyes during
ECAM every year?

You can click here
[http://www.sancb.org.za/article/online-eye-test] to do SANCBs
online eye test; and then pop over to do other tests at Essilor
[http://www.essilor.com/en/eyehealth/lensesforyourvision/testyour
eyes/Pages/home.aspx]; Prokerala
[http://www.prokerala.com/health/eye-care/eye-test/] and
Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre
[http://www.eyelaserclinic.co.za/every-day-hundreds-of-people-sta
rt-losing-their-sight].

While these tests are no substitute for a professional eye test,
theyre a quick-and-easy first step.

Remember, 80% of blindness is avoidable and most common eye
disorders can be prevented if they’re detected and treated early
enough. Glaucoma, which is the leading cause of blindness, is
preventable and can be managed if caught in the early stages.

You can read more on SANCBs website about common eye conditions

care tips.

Our eyes might be one of our smallest sensory organs, but they
provide one of life’s most valuable gifts. So please, protect your
peepers and have them tested during ECAM 2014 and every year
thereafter!

Yours sincerely,

William Rowland
Honorary President
