In respect of a good Friend.

The below tribute to the late Mike Rolfe was read out during his
minutes silence on Saturday the 5th September 2015 by the
commentary team of the Western Province Motor Club at Killarney
International Raceway.

Tribute to Mike Rolfe. 05/09/15.

Mike Rolfe, born 22 February 1948, passing on on the 8th August
2015,
has been a big part of our WP Motor Club for over 30 years, very
ably looking after the operations of the Walkie Talkie base station
in the control office.

Mike was dedicated to the Civilian Defence Force, serving the Cape
Garrison for many years and promoted up the ranks to Warrant
Officer Class 1.

Mikes enormous support of the Goodwood Ice Skating rink found him
efficiently keeping the club going strongly during a very difficult
part of its history. He was a loyal member and a warden of the
Catholic Church of the resurrection, – handing out pray books – in
his famous Shorts!

Mike recently retired and sold his High Voltage Electrical business
where he was well known for looking after the electricity
requirements on many farms.

In his twilight years, Mike achieved his biggest dream… Which
was to fly his own airplane. After his retirement, he bought a
Challenger plane and early this year passed his Private Pilots
Licence.

A devoted and loving family man, Mike leaves his wife Diane, his
children, Karen and Shane and 3 lovely little grand children.

The WPMC and all Mikes friends at Killarney thank Mike for his
amazing passion, humour and loyalty and we are going to miss him
hugely. Rest in Peace Mike.
