DON’T MAKE ME FIGHT,
RATHER FIGHT FOR ME!
April is Animal Cruelty Prevention Month and we need YOUR help to
put an end to the savage practice of dog fighting.
These dogs are regularly conditioned for fighting through the use
of drugs, including anabolic steroids to enhance muscle mass and
encourage aggressiveness. Fighting dogs may have their ears cropped
and tails docked to impair the animal’s normal body language
signals and limit areas that another dog can grab during a fight.
Fighters usually perform this cropping/docking themselves using
crude and inhumane techniques.
Dogs used in these events often die of blood loss, shock,
dehydration, exhaustion, or infection hours or even days after the
Other animals are often sacrificed; dogs who are born “cold,” or
won’t fight, may be kept around as bait.
Please report any suspected dog fighting activities to the SPCA
on 021 7004148/59 After hours 083 326 1604
