More Great Wildlife from Hoedspruit…

Hi all FB & Blog friends…

here is another “print Video” of my friends sightings around
Hoedspruit. Excellent description of a very large Python…

One of my neighbours who lives near the Olifants river was this
morning visited by a 5 metre python which went up a tree when
disturbed.

He was worried about his dogs & the next door neighbour’s sheep.

There was talk of trying to catch it to release it further away,
but a snake that size can easily return to its territory. Better
to leave it alone to move off. (It would have been a rather old
and wise creature!)

The full story on the python is that one of the owner’s dogs seems
to have become a python meal as it has disappeared! & another dog
very nearly did.

The “very nearly dog” & the rather large employee were walking
round the property’s game fence when the dog, running ahead,
started howling.

The python had bitten it on the shoulder. The employee threw a
stone at the snake & it let go.

Our locals rub a python’s fat on their sore joints.

Barry: I’d be interested to hear why this cultural thing works –
Maybe the suppleness of a snake?
